History of Turkish Currency

I found it interesting that some places in Turkey accepted the US dollar and the Euro in addition to the Turkish Lira. Turkey is not yet a member of the European Union, which is a precondition for some member states to adopt the Euro currency. The Turkish people utilize the Turkish Lira (Turkish currency) is subdivided into 100 kurus. All notes and coins of Turkish Lira have portraits of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk from different points of his life since 1930 (with the exception of some notes of second emission, 1937-1942, which features Ismet Inonu) on the obverse side. In 1926, the Ministry of Finance introduced notes for the Republic of Turkey in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 lira.
